Description
🧀 Traditional Balkan cornbread made with cornmeal, yogurt, and cheese — soft inside, golden outside. Perfect for breakfast, snacks, or as a side dish to stews and soups.
Ingredients
- 🌽 250g cornmeal
- 🌾 100g all-purpose flour
- 🥚 2 eggs
- 🥛 200ml yogurt or kefir
- 🧀 150g white cheese (feta or sirene), crumbled
- 🛢️ 100ml sunflower or olive oil
- 🧂 1 tsp baking powder
- 🧂 Salt, to taste
Preparation
- 1. 🥣 Preheat oven to 200°C (390°F).
- 2. In a bowl, mix cornmeal, flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
- 3. 🥄 In another bowl, whisk eggs, then add yogurt and oil.
- 4. Combine wet and dry ingredients. Add crumbled cheese and mix gently.
- 5. 🧈 Pour into a greased baking dish (or muffin tin for mini proje).
- 6. 🔥 Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until golden on top and set inside.
- 7. ❄️ Let cool slightly before slicing.
