Description
Thick, shake-like smoothie with sweet dates, nutty tahini, frozen banana, and a hint of cinnamon—dessert vibes, breakfast energy. 🥤
Hook
Soak the dates, freeze the banana, then blend in stages for a café-thick, ultra-smooth sip with zero added sugar. 🔥
Ingredients
- 🍌 Ripe banana, sliced and frozen: 1 large (~120 g / 4.2 oz)
- 🌴 Soft Medjool dates, pitted: 60 g (4 large / 2.1 oz)
- 💧 Hot water (for soaking dates): 60 ml (¼ cup / 2 fl oz)
- 🥛 Chilled milk (dairy or oat/almond): 300 ml (1¼ cups / 10 fl oz)
- 🥣 Thick Greek yogurt (or coconut yogurt): 120 g (½ cup / 4.2 oz)
- 🌰 Tahini, well stirred: 30 g (2 tbsp / 1.1 oz)
- 🍯 Optional honey or maple syrup: 5–10 ml (1–2 tsp / 0.2–0.34 fl oz)
- 🌾 Ground cinnamon: 1 g (½ tsp / 0.04 oz)
- 🧂 Tiny pinch of salt
- 🧊 Ice cubes: 4–6 small cubes (~80 g / 2.8 oz)
Preparation
- 1️⃣ Soften the dates — Cover pitted dates with hot water and soak 5–10 min until very soft. Tip dates and soaking liquid into the blender jar.
- 2️⃣ Build the base — Add milk, yogurt, tahini, cinnamon, salt, and optional honey/maple. Blend on low → medium until dates are completely smooth and no flecks remain, about 30–45 sec.
- 3️⃣ Add frozen fruit & ice — Add the frozen banana slices and 4 ice cubes. Blend on high 40–60 sec until thick and creamy. If your blender struggles, stop and stir once. For extra thickness, add the remaining ice cubes.
- 4️⃣ Adjust & serve — Taste: add a splash of milk if it’s too thick, or another date for more sweetness. Pour into 2 tall glasses and dust lightly with cinnamon or sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
