Tender beef, soft cabbage, and a rich, savory sauce. This hearty one-pot dish is pure comfort – slow-cooked flavor, simple ingredients, and just like grandma made it.
🥩 400–500 g beef (shoulder or chuck works best)
🥬 1 head of sweet/green cabbage (approx. 1 kg)
🧅 1 onion
🧄 2 garlic cloves
🫑 1 bell pepper (or 1 tsp paprika powder)
🍅 1 tbsp tomato paste
🫒 3 tbsp oil
🧂 Salt, pepper, 1 bay leaf
🌿 Optional: fresh parsley or dill
1️⃣ Cut 🥩 beef into chunks and brown in oil.
2️⃣ Add chopped 🧅 onion and cook until soft.
3️⃣ Stir in 🧄 garlic and 🫑 pepper, cook briefly.
4️⃣ Add 🍅 tomato paste, stir, then pour in water to cover. Simmer for 30–40 minutes until meat is tender.
5️⃣ Meanwhile, slice the 🥬 cabbage and sprinkle with salt. Let it sit for a few minutes to soften.
6️⃣ Add the cabbage to the pot, season, and add more water if needed. Simmer another 30 minutes.
7️⃣ Serve warm with a sprinkle of 🌿 herbs if you like.
