Tips & variations

Tip

Use tequila blanco and cola that are already extremely cold before building the drink. The less the ice has to chill the liquids, the slower it melts and the stronger the carbonation remains.

Why it works

Fresh lime cuts through the sweetness of cola, while salt sharpens both the citrus and tequila flavors. Blanco tequila contributes clean roasted-agave character without competing with the caramel notes of the cola.

Storage and reheating

Batanga should always be prepared immediately before serving. Fresh lime juice can be refrigerated in a sealed container for several hours, but once cola is added the drink quickly loses carbonation. Do not store or reheat the finished cocktail.

Variation

Add a thin jalapeรฑo slice for gentle heat, or replace 60 ml of the cola with chilled grapefruit soda for a brighter citrus version while keeping the tequila-lime base intact.
