Description
This traditional Chinese dessert is smooth like pudding, gently sweet, and deeply soothing. Infused with fresh ginger and steamed to velvety perfection, it’s grandma’s remedy for cold nights and quiet moments.
Ingredients
- 🥚 3 large eggs
- 🥛 250 ml whole milk (1 cup)
- 🍯 30 g honey (1 ½ tbsp)
- 🫚 10 g fresh ginger, grated (2 tsp)
- 🧂 Pinch of salt
- 💧 120 ml hot water for steaming (½ cup)
Preparation
- 1️⃣ In a bowl, beat eggs gently. Add milk, honey, grated ginger, and salt. Stir slowly until combined — avoid bubbles.
- 2️⃣ Strain the mixture into 2–3 small ramekins or bowls through a fine sieve.
- 3️⃣ Cover ramekins with foil. Place them in a steamer or deep pan over simmering water.
- 4️⃣ Steam gently for 12–15 minutes, or until just set but still jiggly in the center.
- 5️⃣ Let rest for 5 minutes before serving warm — or chill if you prefer it cold.
