Description
This glossy brown sauce is a takeout favorite β sweet, salty, garlicky, and perfect for drizzling over stir-fries or dipping crispy bites. It takes just minutes to make but brings that unmistakable Chinese flavor home.
Ingredients
- π§ 3 garlic cloves, finely minced
- π« 15 ml vegetable oil (1 tbsp)
- π« 30 ml soy sauce (2 tbsp)
- π― 10 g brown sugar (2 tsp)
- π 10 ml rice vinegar (2 tsp)
- πΎ 5 g cornstarch (1 tsp)
- π§ 60 ml water (ΒΌ cup)
- πΆοΈ Optional: pinch of chili flakes
Preparation
- 1οΈβ£ In a small bowl, whisk soy sauce, vinegar, brown sugar, water, and cornstarch. Set aside.
- 2οΈβ£ Heat oil in a small saucepan. Add garlic and stir for 20β30 seconds, just until fragrant.
- 3οΈβ£ Add sauce mixture. Stir constantly until it thickens and turns glossy (about 1β2 minutes).
- 4οΈβ£ Remove from heat. Add chili flakes if using. Serve warm or let cool and store in a jar.
