π A rustic, soft-crust apple pie filled with sweet, spiced apples β this traditional βLenja Pitaβ is easy to make and perfect for cozy afternoons.
For the dough:
π§ 150g butter (softened)
π¬ 100g sugar
π₯ 2 eggs
π₯ 100ml yogurt
πΎ 400g all-purpose flour
π₯ 1 tsp baking powder
π§ A pinch of salt
For the filling:
π 5 large apples, peeled and grated
π¬ 3 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
π Juice of Β½ lemon
π° 1 tsp ground cinnamon
π 2 tbsp breadcrumbs (to absorb moisture)
1. π₯£ In a bowl, cream the butter and sugar. Add eggs and yogurt. Mix well.
2. πΎ Gradually add flour, baking powder, and salt to form a soft dough. Divide in two.
3. π For the filling, mix grated apples with sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and breadcrumbs.
4. π² Press one half of the dough into a greased baking tray (about 25x35cm).
5. π Spread the apple filling evenly over the dough.
6. π² Roll out or grate the second half of the dough and place it on top.
7. π₯ Bake at 180Β°C (350Β°F) for 35β40 minutes until golden brown.
8. βοΈ Let cool, then cut into squares. Optionally dust with powdered sugar.
