Description
This traditional Mexican red salsa is bold, smoky, and bursting with roasted chili flavor 🔥 Perfect with tacos, grilled meats, or as a table salsa, it’s a staple in every home kitchen — made with love and a little bit of fire.
Ingredients
- 🍅 300 g ripe tomatoes (10.5 oz or ~3 medium)
- 🌶 2 dried arbol chilis, stemmed
- 🌶 1 dried ancho chili, seeded and torn
- 🧄 2 garlic cloves, unpeeled
- 🧅 50 g white onion (1.75 oz)
- 🧂 Salt to taste
- 💧 30 ml water (2 tbsp), or as needed
Preparation
- 1️⃣ Dry-roast tomatoes, garlic, onion, and chilis on a skillet over medium heat until charred (~10 minutes).
- 2️⃣ Peel garlic and add all roasted ingredients to a blender. Add water and blend until smooth.
- 3️⃣ Season with salt to taste.
- 4️⃣ Serve warm or chilled with tacos, grilled meat, or tortilla chips 🌮🔥
