Description
🥔 Tender pork neck braised in a rich, savory sauce — served with creamy mashed potatoes. A perfect comforting dish for lunch or dinner.
Ingredients
- For the pork:
- 🍖 600g pork neck (cut into thick slices)
- 🧅 1 onion, finely chopped
- 🧄 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 🌿 1 tsp paprika
- 🛢️ 2 tbsp oil
- 🧂 Salt and pepper, to taste
- 🍲 400ml water or beef broth
- 🍷 Optional: splash of white wine
- For the gravy:
- 🌾 1 tbsp flour
- 🛢️ 1 tbsp oil or fat from the pan
- 💧 A bit of water to adjust thickness
- For the mashed potatoes:
- 🥔 800g potatoes, peeled and chopped
- 🧈 50g butter or margarine
- 🥛 100–150ml milk or plant milk
- 🧂 Salt, to taste
Preparation
- 1. 🔥 Heat oil in a pan, season pork and sear on both sides until golden. Remove and set aside.
- 2. 🧅 In the same pan, sauté onion and garlic until soft. Add paprika, then deglaze with broth (and wine if using).
- 3. 🍖 Return meat, cover, and simmer on low for 60–75 minutes until tender.
- 4. 🌾 To thicken: mix flour and oil in a pan, cook until golden, then stir into the sauce. Simmer 5 min.
- 5. 🥔 Meanwhile, boil potatoes in salted water until soft. Drain, mash with butter and milk until smooth.
- 6. 🍽️ Serve pork and gravy over a bed of mashed potatoes.
