Ingredients
- Bread
- 🥖 4 soft brioche buns, about 90 g each (4 x 3.2 oz)
- Cream cheese filling
- 🧀 250 g cream cheese, softened (8.8 oz)
- 🍯 30 ml honey or sugar syrup (2 tbsp / 1 fl oz)
- 🧂 1 g fine salt (1/4 tsp / 0.04 oz)
- 🍋 5 ml lemon juice, optional (1 tsp / 0.17 fl oz)
- Garlic butter soak
- 🧈 120 g unsalted butter, melted (1/2 cup / 4.2 oz)
- 🥚 2 large eggs (2)
- 🥛 60 ml milk (1/4 cup / 2 fl oz)
- 🧄 18 g garlic, finely grated (6 cloves / 0.6 oz)
- 🧂 2 g fine salt (1/2 tsp / 0.07 oz)
- 🌿 2 g dried parsley, or 10 g fresh, finely chopped (2 tsp / 0.07 oz)
Preparation
- 1️⃣ Prep the oven
- Heat oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a tray with baking paper. 🔥
- 2️⃣ Cut the buns
- Slice each bun into 6 wedges, cutting almost through but keeping the base intact so it opens like a flower. 🥖
- 3️⃣ Whip the filling
- Mix cream cheese, honey or syrup, salt, and optional lemon juice until smooth and pipeable. 🧀
- 4️⃣ Fill the bread
- Pipe or spoon cream cheese into every cut, aiming for even gaps so every bite gets filling. ✨
- 5️⃣ Make the garlic soak
- Whisk melted butter, eggs, milk, garlic, salt, and parsley until glossy and fully combined. 🧄
- 6️⃣ Soak carefully
- Spoon the garlic mixture over each bun, letting it drip into the cuts without flooding the tray. 🧈
- 7️⃣ Bake
- Bake 12 min at 180°C (350°F) until the tops look glossy and the edges are lightly golden. ⏳
- 8️⃣ Rest and serve
- Rest 3 min, then serve warm while the bread is plush and the garlic butter is aromatic. 🥖
