Description
Tender strips of beef in a silky mushroom-cream sauce, served over pasta or mashed potatoes. A dish that feels like it came from a family kitchen in Eastern Europe, even if you’ve never been. Comfort in every bite — and ready in under 30 minutes.
Ingredients
- 🥩 500g beef sirloin or rump, sliced into thin strips
- 🍄 250g mushrooms, sliced
- 🧅 1 onion, finely chopped
- 🧄 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 🧈 2 tbsp butter
- 🛢️ 1 tbsp oil
- 🥄 1 tbsp flour
- 🧂 Salt & pepper, to taste
- 🥫 150ml beef broth
- 🥛 150ml sour cream
- 🌿 Optional: fresh parsley for garnish
- 🍝 Serve with egg noodles, mashed potatoes, or rice
Preparation
- 1. 🔥 Heat oil and half the butter in a large skillet. Sauté onions and mushrooms until soft and golden. Remove and set aside.
- 2. 🥩 In the same pan, add remaining butter and beef strips. Sear quickly over high heat until browned.
- 3. 🧄 Return mushrooms and onions to pan. Add garlic and stir briefly.
- 4. 🌾 Sprinkle in flour and mix well for 30 seconds.
- 5. 🥫 Pour in beef broth and bring to a simmer. Stir until slightly thickened.
- 6. 🥛 Reduce heat to low and stir in sour cream. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer 2–3 more minutes.
- 7. 🍽️ Serve hot over pasta or mashed potatoes. Garnish with fresh parsley.
