This isn’t the restaurant kind with tiny glass jars and modern twists. This is grandma’s tiramisu: creamy, bold, and unapologetically soaked in strong coffee. Layers of ladyfingers, mascarpone, and cocoa so rich it demands a nap afterward. It’s the taste of after-dinner silence, espresso in hand.
🥚 3 large eggs, separated
🍬 100 g (1/2 cup) sugar
🧀 250 g (9 oz) mascarpone cheese
☕ 300 ml (1 1/4 cups) strong coffee or espresso, cooled
🥂 2 tbsp coffee liqueur (optional)
🍪 200 g (7 oz) ladyfinger biscuits (savoiardi)
🌿 Cocoa powder, for dusting
1️⃣ In a bowl, whisk 🥚 yolks with 🍬 sugar until pale and thick.
2️⃣ Add 🧀 mascarpone and mix until smooth.
3️⃣ In another bowl, beat egg whites to stiff peaks and gently fold into mascarpone mix.
4️⃣ Combine ☕ coffee and 🥂 liqueur in a shallow dish.
5️⃣ Dip 🍪 ladyfingers quickly in coffee and layer them in a dish.
6️⃣ Spread half the cream over. Repeat layers.
7️⃣ Cover and chill for at least 4 hours.
8️⃣ Dust with 🌿 cocoa before serving.
