Description
A delicate and aromatic steamed white fish dish, infused with fresh ginger and scallions and finished with sizzling hot oil 🫚🔥. This classic Chinese preparation highlights purity of flavor and simplicity at its finest.
Ingredients
🐟 300 g white fish fillet (cod or tilapia), skinless (10.5 oz)
🫚 10 g fresh ginger, julienned (2 tsp)
🧅 2 scallions, sliced lengthwise
🧄 1 garlic clove, thinly sliced
🧂 Salt to taste
🌾 15 ml light soy sauce (1 tbsp)
🌻 15 ml neutral oil (1 tbsp), for flash-heating
🌶 Optional: 1 small red chili, thinly sliced
Preparation
1️⃣ Place fish on a heatproof plate and lightly season with salt.
2️⃣ Scatter ginger, garlic, and half the scallions on top.
3️⃣ Steam over high heat for 8–10 minutes, until fish flakes easily.
4️⃣ Meanwhile, heat oil in a small pan until shimmering.
5️⃣ Pour hot oil over steamed fish to release aromas.
6️⃣ Drizzle soy sauce on top and garnish with remaining scallions and chili.
