Ingredients

  • 🍠 500 g orange-fleshed sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into large chunks (17.5 oz)
  • 🍯 200 g piloncillo (or dark brown sugar) (7 oz)
  • 💧 500 ml water (2 cups)
  • 🌰 1 cinnamon stick
  • ✨ 2 whole cloves
  • 🍋 Optional: zest of ½ orange

Preparation

  • 1️⃣ In a large saucepan, combine water, piloncillo, cinnamon stick, cloves, and orange zest. Bring to a boil.
  • 2️⃣ Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes until piloncillo dissolves.
  • 3️⃣ Add sweet potatoes and cook uncovered for 30–40 minutes until tender and syrup thickens.
  • 4️⃣ Serve warm with syrup spooned on top, or chill for later 🍠🫙
