Description
π Thin crust, rich tomato sauce, creamy mozzarella, and fresh basil β this Margherita Pizza is simplicity done right, straight from the Italian kitchen.
Ingredients
For the dough:
πΎ 300g all-purpose flour
π§ 180ml warm water
π§ 1 tsp salt
π¬ Β½ tsp sugar
π§ 1 tsp dry yeast
π’οΈ 1 tbsp olive oil
For the topping:
π 200ml tomato passata or crushed tomatoes
π§ 1 garlic clove, minced (optional)
π§ 200g fresh mozzarella, sliced or torn
πΏ Fresh basil leaves
π’οΈ Olive oil for drizzling
π§ Salt and pepper, to taste
Preparation
1. π₯£ Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it rest for 10 minutes until foamy.
2. πΎ In a bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Knead into a soft dough.
3. β³ Cover and let rise for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
4. π₯ Preheat oven to 250Β°C (480Β°F), or as hot as possible.
5. π Roll out the dough into a thin round. Transfer to a baking tray or pizza stone.
6. π Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce. Add garlic if using, and season with salt and pepper.
7. π§ Top with mozzarella and drizzle with olive oil.
8. π₯ Bake for 7β10 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbling.
9. πΏ Add fresh basil just before serving.
