Description
This simple stir-fry is a Chinese fasting staple — tender tofu tossed with aromatic garlic chives, soy sauce, and sesame oil. It’s quick, clean, and surprisingly full of flavor.
Ingredients
🧈 300 g firm tofu, cubed (10.5 oz)
🌿 100 g garlic chives, chopped (1 cup)
🧄 3 garlic cloves, minced
🫒 15 ml sesame oil (1 tbsp)
🫙 30 ml soy sauce (2 tbsp)
🍚 10 ml rice vinegar (2 tsp)
🧂 Salt and black pepper to taste
🌶️ Optional: pinch of chili flakes
Preparation
1️⃣ Heat sesame oil in a wok or large pan over medium heat. Add tofu cubes and pan-fry until golden on all sides. Remove and set aside.
2️⃣ In the same pan, add garlic and stir until fragrant (30 seconds). Add garlic chives and stir-fry 1–2 minutes.
3️⃣ Return tofu to the pan. Add soy sauce, vinegar, and chili flakes (if using). Toss to coat evenly.
4️⃣ Cook 1 more minute. Season to taste. Serve warm with steamed rice.

Use a nonstick or well-seasoned wok to keep the tofu from sticking or crumbling.
